Jessica Romeo lives in Andover, CT with her husband Ken, their children Kayla and Joseph and their dog Lily. They have been members of Bolton Congregational Church since 1999.

Jessica has been involved in the Christian Education program at BCC for 20 years. She took over as the director in 2010.

Jessica loves everything nature, most of all the ocean. When she isn’t working with the youth of the church, you will most likely find her with a book in her hand and her feet in the sand. The music and arts hold a special place in her heart, and whenever she can she will implement the arts into the teaching of Sunday School.

Mary Douglas

Mary Douglas lives in Hebron, CT with Bob, her husband,  and a variety of hungry caterpillars eating the native (and related) plants she has planted  for them (don't get her started talking about it, as some of you have already learned). She moved from New Orleans to New England in the mid '80s not long after she completed the MCM degree (Master of Church Music, organ concentration) from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. She has played piano (BA is in piano) and/or organ and/or keyboard in a wide variety of denominations including  Baptist (3 varieties), Episcopal, Lutheran, Methodist, Roman Catholic, UCC, and one Mental Health Hospital (Searcy, now closed) for non denominational chapel services (where she first  encountered  an Allen organ, somewhat similar in size to Bolton Congregational Church's recently acquired Allen). Her main goal  on Sunday is to provide beautiful music which will bring you to a place of joy in God's presence and inspire you to "make melody to the Lord in your hearts", which just happens to be part of the epistle reading for this Sunday. She loves it when that happens.

Tonya Laymon

Tonya Laymon earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Therapy at Marywood University in Scranton, Pa.  During her time at Marywood she was a featured soloist in numerous performance ensembles and won a Medal in Performance.  She also served as the Assistant Director of Marywood University’s Children’s Chorus.  After college, she worked as a Music Therapist in several juvenile detention centers and state hospitals in both Pa and Ct.  While working as a Board Certified Music Therapist, Tonya went back to school to earn her certification in music education.  Tonya also earned two Master’s of Science degrees in Educational Leadership and Music Education from Purdue University and Central Connecticut State University. She also earned several master credits at UCONN for Opera Performance. 

Currently and for the past 17 years, Tonya teaches high school music at Norwich Free Academy.  She teachers several choirs, three levels of piano, and three levels of music technology.  She has previously taught in the Hartford School District, East Haven School District, and Tolland School District teaching everything from high school/ middle school piano, guitar, to elementary general music, choir, and band.  Tonya is also currently the new Choir Director at Bolton Congregational Church.  She also contracts out to several different churches in the area to either sing or play the piano.  But most importantly she is a proud mother of a teenage daughter who is currently in college seeking to pursue a career in deaf studies.
